Gail Benoit Obituary

Gail Seymour Benoit, 82, died Wednesday, Jan 12th at Schuyler Ridge, Clifton Park, after an extended illness, in the loving company of her family. Born in Troy, August 18, 1939, daughter of the late Delbert and Gladys "Jean" Seymour, she and family grew up in Poestenkill and graduated from Sacred Heart School. Years ago, Gail cooked at the former Connors Diner in Stillwater before raising her family. Years later she worked for many years at Four Winds in Saratoga Springs, and previously worked at Quick Serve in Stillwater. After retirement, Gail volunteered at the Stillwater Food Pantry. A wonderful cook, baker and cake decorator for family and friends. She and her family enjoyed many years at their camp at Long Lake, and also camped at Rogers Rock and Racquet Lake. Gail proudly had a unique treasured hobby of collecting silver napkin rings. As the oldest Seymour sibling, Gail was all about her family, proud of her children and their kids, her siblings and their families, and loved hosting family gatherings for all. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Paul E. Benoit, who died Jan 2019, late daughter Terry Mason, brother Edward Seymour and sister Dolores Orr. Survivors include her six children: Stephen (Trish) Benoit, Jay (Donielle) Benoit, Lisa (Ron) McNeil, Lori Benoit (Graig Johnson), Brian (Dawn) Benoit all of Stillwater and Julie Benoit of Latham. Also 11 grandchildren and a great granddaughter. Siblings Gloria (John) Van Der Poel, John "Jack" (Marjorie) Seymour and Jeff (Jill) Seymour, and their families. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. at All Saints on the Hudson (St. Peter's) Church, 895 Hudson Ave, Stillwater, with burial to follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Calling hours at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St, Mechanicville on Sunday from 1 -4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Stillwater Food Pantry or Schuyler Ridge Residential Health Care Center Residents Activity Fund, in loving memory of Gail A.
