Born in Spy Hill Sask, Canada, he spent some years with Northwest Mounted Police and Indians. After graduating from high school he worked temporarily in the Beech-Nut Packing Co., and for the U.S. government as a railway mail clerk. He also worked on the 1980 Census Bureau. While in the music business he wrote the song, When You Leave Me ToNight Dear. This was published by Jack Patton in Hollywood and sung by Gene Autry. Bartlett also invented and sold a tuning key for guitars; his secondary vocation was beekeeping. He could not study honey bees and not believe in God. If the witnesses remain silent the very stones would cry out. Luke.
