Merrill Tilison Obituary
"Bud" was born June 27, 1938 in Howes Cave, NY, a son of Merrill and Catherine (Underhill) Tilison. He graduated from Schoharie High School in 1957 and later enlisted in the US Airforce where he worked as an engine mechanic for 20 years until his honorable discharge in 1978. Bud later worked at the Stove Works in Howes Cave, Coleco in Amsterdam and finally the Albany VA for his last 14 years of employment. He served as Secretary/Treasurer of the Bramanville Prospect Cemetery and volunteered with Salvation Army. He also held memberships with the Richmondville United Methodist Church and the Edgewater United Methodist Church, the VFW and BPO Elks Lodge #1557 in Edgewater.
Survivors include: his wife; Arlene (Spaulding) Tilison whom he married May 2, 1959, his 2 daughters; Susan Rowley of Florida, and Audrey Lowe of Scotia, 9 grandchildren; Amber Benac, Seth and Niel Keller, Meghan Castillo, Kyle and Ian Rowley, Kacie, McKenzie, and Tyler Lowe, 6 great-grandchildren; Tim, Kaleb, Sydney, Emmett, Owen, and Amelia, his sister; Shelby Gergich and his sister-in-law; Evelyn Reightmyer along with several nieces and nephews. Bud was predeceased by his parents and his son Keith Patrick Tilison.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 3rd at the Edgewater United Methodist Church. Burial with military honors will be held in the spring in the Richmondville Rural Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Richomodville United Methodist Church, PO Box 8, Richmondville, NY 12149 OR the Edgewater United Methodist Church, 211 N. Ridgewood Ave., Edgewater, FL 32132.
