Thomas G. Tilison

Thomas G. Tilison 70, most recently of Richmondville and previously of Central Bridge died tragically Sunday, August 29th along with his devoted 'ride partner', daughter Tracy as a result of a motorcycle accident on Rte. #7 in Richmondville. Tom was born August 28, 1951 in Schenectady, a son of Stanley and Eleanor (Mahar) Tilison. Following his education at Schoharie High School, Tom enlisted in the US Air Force as a Construction Equipment Operator serving over-seas for several years before his honorable discharge in 1974. Upon returning to his native Schoharie County, Tom began a long career with the Stratton Air National Guard Base in Scotia as a civilian employee Equipment Operator for NYS and also joined the Air Guard serving until his retirement in 2011. During this time, he earned several awards and citations for his work and devotion to helping others, including ground zero on 911. He was a member of the Central Bridge Fire Department, the B.P.O. Elks Lodge #2507 in Esperance, P.U.F.L. member of the American Legion, and Patriot Guard Riders. He enjoyed racing RC Cars, golfing and riding his motorcycle especially with his beloved daughter Tracy and lived by the virtue of Faith, Family, and Friends. Survivors include his wife, Robin (Countryman) Tilison whom he married April 1, 1973, his daughter Tara (Steven) Palmer of Richmondville, his 5 grandchildren; Haley, Robert, Alexandra, Danica, and Lucas, his mother; Eleanor Tilison of Central Bridge, his sister Antionette "Toni" (Nelson) Daley of Central Bridge, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. A joint period of visitation will be held for both Tom and Tracy from 3 to 5 p.m. on Friday, September 10th at the Fusion Church, 375 N. Grand Street Cobleskill followed by a joint memorial service at 5 p.m. Burial will be held privately at Saratoga National Cemetery.
