Nancy Nolan Obituary

Nancy Jean Nolan died on Friday, October 19, 2018, surrounded by her loving family, following a year long battle with lung cancer. She spent her final days in peace and comfort of her sister's Niskayuna home. Nancy was born in Schenectady to the late Mary B. and Thomas S. Nolan on July 18, 1949. She graduated from Notre Dame High School and attended Fashion Institute of Technology. She retired from Whiteman, Osterman and Hanna, after 27 years of service as Business Manager. In her retirement she cherished her time in volunteer service at the Teresian House and became a formidable Words with Friends competitor. Left to cherish her memory are sisters, Maureen N. Van Duser of Latham, Julianne (Robert) Schoenbacher of Guilderland and Sharon (James) Seaman of Niskayuna. She was predeceased by brother, Thomas K. Nolan. Also surviving are treasured nieces and nephews, Danielle Brophy, Kevin Seaman, Dennis Seaman, Mary White, Michelle Nolan-Day and Thomas Nolan. She also leaves great nieces and nephews, Kevin Wood, Brooke Wood, Ryker Day, Cole, Nolan, Charlotte Brophy and Harper White; as well as numerous cousins. Special recognition is given to Drs. Cindy Chan, Sunitha Sukamaran and Duncan Savage for their compassionate care. Funeral services will begin on Wednesday, October 24 at 10 a.m. at Gleason Funeral Home, thence St. Paul the Apostle Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Family and friends are invited to call at Gleason Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 23 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Private burial will be held at a later date in St. Joseph's Cemetery. For those who wish, donations to the Teresian House, 200 Washington Ave. Ext., Albany, NY 12203 in Nancy's memory are suggested.

I am so sad to hear of Nancy's passing. Nancy was a beacon of light, humor and good guidance in the many years she graced the halls of WOH. She helped initiate me into the wasy of WOH when I first came north from NYC many, many years ago, and continued to provide many nuggets of humor and wise advice over the years. She talked about her family all the time, siblings, nieces and nephews. To know Nancy was to know (from afar) the whole Nolan family. It was wonderful. ALmost all of my memories of Nancy involve laughing at some point. She will remain permanently embedded as a key player in my experience of the WOH family, and I send all of her "real" family heart-felt condolences and a hug - -Heather Diddel

To the Nolan family. Please except my sincere condolences for the loss of Nancy. She was such a sweet person. And like your mom and dad I remember many cherished moments Dennis and Kerrianne had with the three of them. I remember Dennis always wanting to help her wash her car! Such fun and laughs.
And me personally, I must of had at least 100 Scrabble games with Nancy. And I never won one single game. And I can remember Tom always encouraging me and rooting for me! It was a great time living on Nimitz Road back then.
I understand the heart ache that you all are going through. Ralph passed away on May 3. In March we had been married 50 years.
It is said that grief is the price we pay for loving.
Sincerely
Susan King
