Steven Hare Obituary

Steven S. Hare StillwaterSteven S. Hare, 62, affectionately known by many as Stevie Wonder, entered Heaven, a world without pain or suffering, on Tuesday, Oct. 15th, 2013. There to greet him with open arms were his father, mother; sister, Nancy; brother, Nelson; nephew, Chuckie; niece, Marty; and many cherished friends and relatives. Left behind to mourn his loss are his caring wife, Cindy; sons, Michael Benjamin and Steven Eric; daughter, Liz; grandchildren, Ethan and Grace; sisters, Susanne, Sheryl, Cheryl and Kim; brother, Bob; stepmother, Grace; nieces, nephews and their families and many friends. Steve was the son of Nelson and Marcella Sally Hare. He was born May 26, 1951 in Troy, NY. His early childhood years were spent shining shoes up and down the streets of Lansingburgh. Later he learned to love hand fishing for trout in the streams near Westerlo. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1968. After his return from the service, he worked for the Union Pacific Railroad. Later he became a long distance haul trucker, first with his brother, Nels and then as an independent contractor. That's how he met the love of his life, Cindy Albers in Rochester, MN. They married and started their family. While in Rochester, Steve drove for Yellow Cab. In 1982, Steve and his young family returned to upstate New York, settling near Stillwater, and first worked for King Fuels before ending his work career with Time Warner Cable in Saratoga Springs. His spare time was spent with people he loved, and he loved a good time. A member of Post 91 American Legion of Mechanicville, and St. Peters Lutheran Church of Malta, Stevie spent many days helping his friends at Costanzo's Restaurant and Lounge of Mechanicville. Despite health challenges the last few years, Stevie reached out to others, volunteering to deliver Meals on Wheels and helping wherever he could. He will be sorely missed. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 21st at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 2776 Route 9, Malta. There will be no public calling hours. Please join family at a celebration of Steve's life party on Saturday, Oct. 19th at Costanzo's Rest. and Lounge, 168 Saratoga Ave., Mechanicville from 3 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in loving memory of Steven S. Hare. Arrangements by the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, Mechanicville. Visit www.devito-salvadore fh.com to leave condolences and for directions.
