Brooke Normann Obituary

Brooke Traci Normann formerly of Arlington Heights The funeral service for Brooke Traci Normann, of Newhall, Calif., will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, at First Presbyterian Church, 302 N. Dunton Ave., Arlington Heights, where she will lie in state from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery following the service. There will be a visitation from 2 to 8 p.m. today, at Friedrichs Funeral Home, 320 W. Central Road (at Northwest Highway), Mount Prospect. Born Sept. 6, 1968, in Park Ridge, she died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2006. Brooke was raised in the Arlington Heights area her entire life. She attended Westgate Grammar School, South Jr. High and Arlington High School, until it closed, and chose to attend Prospect High School her junior and senior years, graduating in 1986. She attended Northern Illinois University in Dekalb, graduating in 1990 with a B.S. degree in nursing. During her younger years, she was a Brownie Scout, baton twirler, tap dancer, played the flute and was a pitcher and first baseman for Little League softball. Her favorite thing to do was carry the high school banner for the Prospect Rhythmettes and Marching Blue Knights. During her high school days, she was a pom-pon girl with the Arlington Cardinalettes for two years and then a Rhythmette her junior and senior years. Being selected as Rhythmette captain her senior year was her dream come true. That year she helped lead the Rhythmettes at the Tournament of Roses Parade in California, as well as performances and parade in Oahu, Hawaii. Her first two jobs were teaching tap dancing at Judy Forsberg School of Dance and valet car parking at Arlington Race Track. From junior high school to present, Brooke did modeling, primarily for Montgomery Wards and many other venues later in life. After graduating from Northern Illinois University, she became a surgical RN and has continued with that profession until today. Quality care for her patients was always first and foremost in her profession. She was a wonderful, warm and caring nurse and her patients adored her. Midway in her surgical career she desired a change in scenery and moved to California. She loved to be tan, sunny days, warm beaches and the beautiful mountain views. She was lovingly nicknamed "Sun Goddess." Brooke was a beautiful, devoted, adoring and wonderful daughter and sister. She is survived by her loving parents, Ruthann and Don Normann of Arlington Heights; brothers, Grant (Shelley) Normann of Stevenson Ranch, Calif., and Keith (Robin) Normann of Livermore, Calif.; her sister, Debra Normann (Dr. Fred Larimore) of Indianapolis; uncle, Jim Hallett of Arlington Heights; aunt, Barbara (Jim) Cimbura of Longmont, Colo.; niece, Jessica Gordon of Stevenson Ranch, Calif.; former sister-in-law, Terri Normann of San Diego; several cousins, great-aunts, special friends; and her loving companion, Mike Leiske of Canyon Country, Calif. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Prospect High School Girl's Athletics, c/o Jean Rezny, Girl's Athletic Director or a charity of one's choice. "Find a star in the night and Brooke's beautiful face will be shining down upon us." For information, 847-255-7800 or www.FriedrichFH.com.

Dear Brooke,
I am deeply saddened by the news I just found out from family and reading this obituary. You will be so missed Brooke, no one will forget you or our memories of you. I’m so sorry you’re gone; there just aren’t words for how I’m feeling and never will.

I just simply can't believe this... You will be deeply missed in many ways. I wish I could have been there for you at your final day. I will visit you someday instead.

My heart is with all the family and anyone whose heart was touched by Brooke; mine certainly was in many ways.

With all my Love, Good bye Brooke

Dear Family:

I was a classmate of Brooke's at Westgate, South, and then Arlington. She was such a sweet person with a beautiful smile and a warm and welcoming way about her. Although it has been more than 20 years since I've seen her, I am so saddened to hear that she is gone. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Uncle Don, Aunt Ruthann, Grant and Family,
As I sit here writing in Brooke's Guest Book I can hardly believe it-I'm still in disbelief. I look at the pictures of Brooke and I as babies, my eyes fill with tears, and I am at a loss for words. I am sending all of you my love and prayers during this difficult time. I will always remember Brooke's wonderful spirit and her beauty, inside and out. I love you very very much !!

Dear Family---
Although it has been many many years---I still remember the lovely face and smile---and recall many grand days of childhood with Brooke and Grant!

I was told of Brooke's passing and wish I could have attended the service---but am currently living in Florida---After reading how Brooke gave up the cold of Illinois for the beautiful California sun---I remember that is what we had most in common---our love for summer days by the pool!

How wonderful to hear of how much joy she brought to others during her life!

All of my love & prayers during this terribly hard ordeal!

Ruthie & Don, You hugged me and held me when I needed it the most. I wish I was there to do the same for you. You are in my thoughts and prayers daily. I read this everyday in memory of my mom. I am sending this to you to find comfort as the days go on.

I feel a warmth around me like your presence is so near, And i close my eyes to visualize your face when you were here, I endure the times we spent together and they are locked inside my heart,
For as long as i have those memories we will never be apart,
Even though we cannot speak no more
my voice is always there, Because every night before i sleep i have you in my prayer

Dear Mrs. Normann,
The news of your loss has brought an indescribable sadness to me and I am sure to many of the lives that you have touched over the years.

The flower of Brooke's life blossomed into a beautiful woman with a noble profession which I am quite sure knew great love. Perhaps we can only get solace in the hope that she had a larger calling somewhere unseen by us here on earth -- for now...

May God Bless you and your Family and Brooke's Angel Wings in Heaven.
