CARL LUND Obituary

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS - Carl Lund, 95, peacefully passed away on March 16, 2024. He gently and profoundly touched many people's lives with his kindness, his ever-present clever sense of humor, and his ability and willingness to listen. Born in Racine, Wisconsin, Carl earned a metallurgical engineering degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He spent most of his career in the aerospace industry working for the Martin Marietta Corporation, where he developed several groundbreaking patents for alloys used in jet aircraft engines. He traveled the world, was an avid golfer, voraciously studied religions, and loved to play bridge. Carl is lovingly survived by his wife of 70 years, Joanne; his children, Peter (Nancy), Katy (William), and Eric (Jane); 6 grandchildren, David, Jason, Adam, Michael, Paul, Bella; and 4 great-grandchildren. Though Carl was a highly accomplished intellectual, he always wanted people to be happy and to have fun. He made everyone smile and laugh. He will be deeply missed.

My deepest condolences. The last four sentences of his obituary reflect exactly my impression of Carl. Remarkably intelligent; warm, funny & charismatic; his essence reverberates through his lineage, and will do so for generations to come. Anyone who knew him will miss him.
