CONSTANCE NISSEN Obituary

WHEATON - Constance Ella Nissen, a resident of Wheaton, since 2009, formerly of Aurora and DeKalb, born Jan. 25, 1920 in Chicago, died Apr. 25, 2014, at the DuPage Convalescent Center in Wheaton. She served as a navy nurse during WWII, a medical missionary in Venezuela, and a professor of nursing at Northern Illinois University 1960 to retirement. She was a graduate of Northwestern University, McCormick Theological Seminary, and Boston University. She is survived by her nieces Judith Lynne Hansen Enos, and Barbara Hansen Lemme; nephews Mark, Chris and Eric McDaniels; and many loving grandnieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters, June Hansen and Dorothy McDaniels. At her request there were no services and a private interment will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood. Contributions may be made to the DuPage Convalescent Center Foundation, 400 N. County Farm Rd., Wheaton, IL 60187, College Church, 322 E. Seminary Ave., Wheaton, IL 60187, or Women in Military Service for America Memorial Foundation Inc., Dept. 560, Washington D.C., 20042.
