DONALD HADLEY Obituary

Donald Hadley Sr. Donald Hadley Sr., 81, of Necedah, Wis., died Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, at his home in the township of Armenia. Don was the son of James and Louisa (Biersen) Hadley and was born Dec. r 18, 1928 in Geneva, Ill. Don was raised in the Wheaton, Ill., area and graduated from Wheaton Community High School in 1946. He served his country in the Marine Corps from 1948 to 1952. Don was a survivor of the Inchon Landings Chosin Reservoir Battle. Don was united in marriage to Dixie Lee Dewey, May 8, 1954, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Wheaton. He was employed as a crew leader for Commonwealth Edison Electric Company for 33 years, and recipient of the, ComEd George Meany Life Saving Award. Donald was a true sportsman with 50 consecutive years of deer hunting. He was a Hunters Safety Instructor for many years. He also was a Scout Master for Troop 34 in Wheaton, in which he has received many awards. In 1980s, Don retired and moved to Wisconsin. He has been the Constable of Armenia Township since 1985, and has been a special Deputy of Juneau County Sheriffs Department for many years. He was a member of the VFW of Armenia, and has been post commander twice. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife, Dixie of Necedah; children, Doyle (Dee) Hadley of Necedah, Darlene (Peter) Sklarenko of Wheaton, Dale (Kari) Hadley of Wheaton, Denis (Kara) Hadley of New Lisbon, Wis., Donald (Nancy) Hadley Jr. of West Chicago, Ill., and Darrell Hadley of Minooka, Ill.; brother, LaRoy Hadley of Tennessee; sisters, Jean Andrewson and Arlene (Ray) Fisher, both of Wheaton; and grandchildren, Nicole, Shannan, Jackie, Cody, Ashley, Hillary, Dustin, Shelby, Gabriel and Dalton. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials to the, National Museum of the Marine Corps, 18900 Jefferson Davis Highway, Triangle, VA 22172, would be appreciated. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Dec. 17, at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Necedah with Fr. Hector Moreno presiding. Relatives and friends may call at the Hare Funeral Home in New Lisbon on Thursday from 5 until 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Friends may also call at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Military Honors provided by Necedah American Legion Post 277 will be held at the church immediately following the Mass. The Hare Funeral Home in New Lisbon, an exclusive provider of Veterans & Family Memorial Care, is assisting the family with services.

Don would take a bunch of us explorer scouts up to Necedah where we would camp out, had a great time, seems the fathers would tag along too. Thinking back that was a very risky thing to do and he would even let some of the scout assistants drive some of whom were just teens
