ENRIQUE ESCOBEDO Obituary

Dr. Enrique Escobedo Jr., 44, our beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend entered into the glory of his eternal life on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, at his residence in Brownsville.

Dr. Escobedo, a prominent member of our community, had served on the BISD Board of Trustees since 2003, and was currently the Board President. Dr. Escobedo was devoted to improving education for the children of Brownsville. He firmly believed that all the children of Brownsville deserved the best education possible. Dr. Escobedo was a mentor for children and a positive role model. Dr. Escobedo believed that nothing was impossible if you tried your best and it's never too late to learn. In his many speeches, he always encouraged his audience to excel.

Dr. Escobedo was devoted to our community and he devoted his life to public service. His phone was always ringing with calls from others seeking his help. Dr. Escobedo was not a politician-he was a public servant. He was a loving and caring person and he loved his family. He had exquisite taste and he loved collecting art, antiques, and books.

In his spare time, Dr. Escobedo loved to hunt and was an avid outdoorsman. He also was a pilot and loved to fly and had recently learned to play the piano. Dr. Escobedo was a member of the Sunrise Rotary Club and attended Brownsville Community Fellowship Church. Dr. Escobedo had received numerous recognitions and had too many accomplishments to name.

To his mother he was "Mi Grillito Cantador", to his siblings, he was "Rick Bush", and to our community he was "Doc", a man who was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by his family and friends but by all those fortunate to have known him.

Dr. Escobedo was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Simon and Socorro Martinez; his paternal grandparents, Canuto and Celia Escobedo; and an uncle, Simon Martinez Jr.

Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of him are his loving parents, Maria Angeles and Enrique Escobedo Sr.; his siblings, Nancy Escobedo, Elizabeth (Winston Huh) Escobedo, and Jaime (Priscilla)Escobedo; his niece, Madeleine Huh; three nephews, Miguel Escobedo and Christopher and Benjamin Huh; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and other extended family members.

You may come by to pay your respects to Dr. Escobedo starting at 2 p.m. today Sunday, Dec. 22nd in the East Chapel at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. The family will greet family and friends from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a prayer service scheduled for 7 p.m. this evening. A Celebration of Life Service will take place at 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at Brownsville Community Fellowship Church, 2390 Central Blvd. Committal services will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Jaime Escobedo, Miguel Angel Escobedo, Dr. Winston Huh M.D., Silverio Capistran, Jose De La Cruz, Rick Longoria and Jose Salazar are honored to be serving as Dr. Escobedo's pallbearers.

(Hechos 24:15, Lucas (23:44)
