Dear family of Dr. Jeffrey Melton
I was a patient of Dr. Jeff's and was shocked to find out just today about his passing when I called to make my annual appointment. I was stunned to realize that my last visit with him on 9/25/12 was very shortly before his passing.
I was privileged to have been his patient when he was a young Dr. at Loyola and again recently at his Oakbrook practice. He always made me feel comfortable because of his warm, funny, and caring "bedside manner"--he was a great doctor.
I am so sorry I missed hearing this and the opportunity to pay my final respects to him.
Though this is late, please accept my sincere sympathy to all of you. I am sorry for the loss to you, his patients, and all he touched in this life.

I am so sad to hear about Jeff's passing. It doesn't seem that long ago we were all at Cornell together. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

While I was just a one time patient of Dr. Melton, my surgery was a 6 hour one in which we engaged in a comfortable conversation. He made an impact on me and I raved about his tremendous skill as a surgeon, but was even more impressed by his bedside manner. I was saddened to hear of his passing and know how sad your family must be. In that short time, he told me much about his wife and children and seemed so incredibly proud and happy. I hope you are all comforted by the many memories and knowing that he is at peace.
You are all in my prayers

I just received a letter from Dr. Melton's estate alerting of his death. I was so shocked and am so very saddened. My mother was a patient of his several times in the last few years. He was a very nice down to earth man. I just feel the need to send my deep regrets to his family.

Memories in the Heart
by Unknown Author
Feel no guilt in laughter, he knows how much you care
Feel no sorrow in a smile that he's not here to share
You cannot grieve forever, he would not want you to
He'd hope that you can carry on, the way you always do
So talk about the good times and the ways you showed you cared
The days you spent together, all the happiness you shared
Let memories surround you.
A word someone may say
Will suddenly recapture a time, an hour, a day
That brings him back as clearly as though he were still here
And fills you with the feelings that he is always near
For if you keep these moments, you will never be apart
And he will live forever locked safe within your heart
Wishing you peaceful moments in your hearts.

Dear Family of Dr. Melton,
I am so sorry for your loss. It was truly an honor and a pleasure to be his Mohs Surgery technician at UIC for more than eight years. He spoke of his family often and was so proud of his children. Even though I have not worked with Dr. Melton for the last three years his enthusiasm and devotion to teaching, his humor and most of all his dedication to his patients will always be a rememberance for me. He was truly a devoted physician and educator. He will
be missed.
Sincerely,

Dear Darlene, Liz, Stu, and Reid,
Dr. Melton was truly a joy to work with at UIC. Being his Mohs technician and working side by side with him for many years was really a blessing to me. I would say I am a better technician and a better person for knowing him. He will be sorely missed by the UIC team. Especially those of us on his surgical team. He was truly one of the best teachers, and this residency program will not be the same without the tutelage of Dr. Melton. With sadness in our hearts I'd like to convey our deepest sympathies to your family at this time.
Sincerely and God Bless,

I had the privileged opportunity to be a patient of Dr. Melton's since 1995. His surgical skill, bed side manners, and conversational tones were impeccable. His staff headed by nurse Debbie were care givers with highly trained medical expertise at its best. Through out the years I have had several Mohs surgical procedures performed by Dr. Melton and his excellent staff. In 1998 we retired to Noblesville, Indiana. Each and every Christmas holiday season I send Dr. Melton and his staff a box of Christmas cookies in remembrance, respect, and admiration for a Doctor who meant the world to me. This coming Christmas holiday season won't be the same without Dr. Melton. Thanks Doc ... may God keep you in his grip now in respect from all of us who had the opportunity to have you as our wonderful and exceptionally gifted Doctor.

Dr. Melton performed Mohs surgery on my head in May, 2012 and I was very impressed with his personal care along with his professionalism. The one hour procedure took five hours and he not once gave the impression of being in a hurry. He was very caring and I grieve at the loss. My heart goes out to his family, friends, and all of his other patients who will miss him.

Dear Dr. Darlene and Family,
I was so sorry to hear of Dr. Jeffrey Melton's passing.
Dr. Jeffrey Melton was a wonderful dermatological surgeon who took exceedingly careful steps to provide his patients the best results possible. From the few times we had time to talk together, it was obvious that he took great joy in his children and was very proud of his children's accomplishments.
He was also a dedicated teacher of the residents at UIC for sixteen years, both by his technical skills, and by his kind bedside manner.
He will be greatly missed by many.
Love and prayers,

Looking lovingly at the wonderful family that Jeff and Darlene created, remembering all the wonderful "dad" things that Jeff did with his children. Each winter I smile when I think about the ice rink Jeff would build in the back yard. Our kids have grown together, and we are so proud of all of them. Only wonderful memories we will have from Avery Coonley and DGN days as they matured into young adults. Our prayers are with the Melton family.
