JOAN MITEFF

Joan (nee Havertape) Miteff passed away on January 3, 2024. She was born, along with her twin sister Jean on May 27, 1933. She is preceded in death by her sister, Jean Schreider; her parents, Vincent and Bernadette; and niece, Michaela Havertape. Joan was a 1953 graduate of St. Ambrose College with her degree in nursing. She continued her education and in 1987 was awarded her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Barat College. She spent many years at both St. Therese Hospital and Lake Forest Hospital as the nursing night supervisor. She lived her life as a selfless, loving caregiver to her family and friends. She was "Mom" to everyone who had the good fortune to meet her. Joan is survived by her husband, William (Bill); daughters, Jeanne, Deborah (Stimac), Diane (Mike Blouin) Schillinger and son, James Miteff. In addition, her amazing grandchildren, Hope, Holly, Heidi, Mirza, Noelle, Vincent, Isabella and Nate. Funeral Mass for Joan will be at 10:30 am on Wednesday Jan. 10th, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 121 E. Maple Ave., Libertyville, where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to Mass.
