Leftere Arsoniadis Obituary

Leftere G. Arsoniadis of Sleepy Hollow Funeral services for Leftere G. Arsoniadis, 78, will begin with prayers at 9:40 a.m. Monday, at the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin, and proceed to St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church for Mass at 10 a.m. Father Andrew Karamitos will officiate. Burial will follow in River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m., with Trisagion prayers at 6 p.m. today, and from 9 a.m. until the time of services Monday, in the funeral home. Born Jan. 15, 1928, in Kavala, Greece, the son of George and Kyriaki Arsoniadis, he passed away Friday, Sept. 22, 2006, at Provena St. Joseph Hospital. Leftere was a master craftsman when it came to woodworking. He finished many a basement, cedar closet and any special cabinetry that needed to be done. He had a great love of fishing and was a charter member of St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church, Elgin Survivors include his wife Anatoli (nee Karas) whom he married on July 31, 1950, in Kavala, Greece; his children, George (Irene) Arsoniadis of Elgin and Harry Arsoniadis of Elgin; grandchildren, Elliot and Juliana Arsoniadis; brothers, Demitrios (Martha) Arsoniadis of Greece and Theopistos (Susan) Arsoniadis of Greece; many nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Theofilos; and a sister, Kitsa. For information, 847-741-8800.
