PATRICIA J. MADDEN

1941 - 2021

Patricia J. Madden, 80, longtime resident of Schaumburg, passed away on April 16, 2021 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Pat was born in Winamac, Indiana on January 24, 1941 to Joseph and Victoria Giemza. A daddy's girl and small-town cheerleader, she left their family farm at the age of 17. With big hopes and dreams, she moved to Chicago where she met her husband of over 50 years, Michael. Pat always wanted a large family which was made possible through adoption. She spent her life devoted to the service of others. Pat was a pediatric nurse, an active supporter of her family's activities, a foster parent for over 30 years and a dedicated volunteer for Catholic Charities Refugee Resettlement Program. For more than 20 years, she enjoyed her time at State Street Market in Elgin as a small shop owner. She had a story for every occasion, always offered a listening ear and her generous spirit. Her creativity, natural artistic talent, sense of humor and love will always be remembered. Pat was preceded in death by her parents; and only sister, Claudette Maurer. Surviving is her husband, Michael Madden; seven children; seventeen cherished grandchildren; foster children; many family members and friends. A visitation will be held Friday, April 23, from 5:00-6:00 p.m. at Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, 330 W. Golf Road, Schaumburg, followed by a funeral mass at 6:30 PM at St. Hubert Catholic Church, 729 Grand Canyon Street, Hoffman Estates.Private interment is scheduled.
