RICHARD LINDHOLM Obituary

GENEVA - Richard "Dick" Lindholm, age 91, beloved husband and best friend of Elsie (Johnson) Lindholm for 70 years, and surrounded by family, peacefully went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, October 26, 2018. Dick lived a life of love and integrity which he shared with his wife, family and all who knew him. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His family and friends are grateful for each day they were blessed with his smile, quick wit, and wisdom he shared with them. Dick's deep devotion to his wife Elsie was unwavering. His perseverance through extreme physical challenges later in life was an inspiration to all who knew him. He was born October 25, 1927 in Chicago, the son of Alfred and Ida (Carlson) Lindholm. He graduated from Geneva High School in 1945. Dick served his country in the United States Army. He later attended Aurora College and the University of Chicago School of Business. Dick's love for Geneva and dedication to community was evidenced by his service as City of Geneva alderman from 1959-1965, mayor from 1965-1973, and Geneva Township Supervisor. Dick was an accomplished and successful businessman and began his career as an entrepreneur when he purchased Melvin Electronics, where he also displayed his leadership through industry associations. He later transformed the corner of Anderson Blvd. and State St. when he purchased and remodeled a former industrial building into an attractive commercial property. He is survived by his devoted wife Elsie "Mickey"; daughters Deborah Lindholm of La Jolla, CA; Carol (Don) Peterson of Moline, IL; Janet (Leo) McGill of Bonsall, CA; Nancy (Steve Goad) Lindholm of Oxnard, CA; his son-in-law Don Jackson; his grandchildren Kelly, Andrew, Dana, Cherie, Janel, Helena, Timothy and Lily and 12 great-grandchildren; sister Charlotte Brigham of Colorado; nephews Michael and David Brigham, relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Ida Lindholm and daughter Susan Jackson. The family would like to thank Jill and John Gronberg for the love and care they provided to Dick and Elsie over many years. A funeral service for Dick will be held Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 11:30 am at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State St. (Route 38), Geneva with John Hoekenga officiating. Interment at West Side Cemetery in Geneva. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Geneva History Museum, 113 S 3rd St., Geneva, IL 60134 would be appreciated. Psalm 90:10 says that the days of our years are 70 years, And if because of special mightiness they are 80 years.
May the memories of the wonderful times you shared together bring a smile and joy in your heart.
