THOMAS CHATTERTON Obituary

Thomas D. Chatterton of Buffalo Grove Thomas D. Chatterton, "Tom", age 70, was born March 5, 1943. Tom passed away peacefully at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, IL on March 17, 2013. Beloved husband and soulmate of Bonnie G. Chatterton for almost 50 years, loving Dad and best friend of daughter Kerri L. Chatterton and son Tom J. Chatterton, hero and older brother of Betty A. (Bill) Stuart. Tom is deeply loved and respected and will be greatly missed by the many people who's lives and hearts he touched with his kind, gentle spirit, warm laugh and selfless expressions of compassion and love. Upon his passing, his final gift was the donation of his corneas to Gift of Hope in honor of his niece Joanne Netz (Michigan), who so generously donated her kidney to a friend in need and in appreciation of the loss of sight that his son, Tom, personally experienced and was blessed to regain through the miracles of The Lord and medicine. Preceded in death by parents William Y. and Helen (Maurice) Chatterton. Tom is also survived by sisters-in-law Donna (Guimont) Huisinga and her husband Don (Arizona) and Ginny (Guimont) Robert (New York), five nieces and nephews (Jill, Joanne, Sara, Kristin and Marc) and seven great nieces and nephews (Sam, Ben, Elizabeth, Sophie, Max, Sally and Penelope). In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at: www.jdrf.org (800/533-CURE). Tom's family will be honoring him in a "Celebration of Life" in the near future, for all family and friends to attend. You may contact Kerri for details at: [email protected]. Each day that has gone by brings the loss of Tom closer and closer. He was the brother every sister should have. I was always so proud of him and he never let me down when it came to being concerned for others nor with his tremendous sense of humor. Now I laugh through his son Tommy as he is his dad's double in all ways.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Tom's family. While I only knew Tom for a short time, he was an inspiration to all. His smile contagious and his strength amazing. He will be always in our hearts.

Sincerely, Debbie G RN from Pulmonary Rehab and also the entire staff and friends and Rehab.

One week ago today...still so hard to believe. You are my EVERYTHING Dad! I'm so blessed to have had you in my life for the time that we did have together and even more blessed to be able to call you "Dad" and my best friend. There aren't enough words to share here publicly, but know that you are missed EVERY minute of EVERY day...and loved even more! Mom, Tommy and I will continue to live each day to the fullest in your honor. I feel you watching over us...always! Your spirit and love is forever felt within all of us. I'll be "talking" with you again very soon in my prayers. I love you Dad - so, so much!

Bonnie and family,
I mourn Tom's passing with deep feelings for him and all of you. Tom was my best friend our freshman year at Michigan and I only wish I could have contacted him earlier. He and I shared both laughter and sorrow during our time together and I was flattered when he asked me to be in your wedding. May he rest in peace now with memories of him bringing all of you happiness at having him so close for so long. He will always be in my mind and I treasure having known him. My most sincere sympathy to you and yours.
