Thomas Hennig Obituary

Thomas Edward Hennig of Barrington A Mass of Christian Burial for Thomas Edward Hennig, 77, formerly of Elk Grove Village, will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at St. Anne Church, corner of Franklin and Ela Streets, Barrington, where he will lie in state from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass. Born Sept. 27, 1926, in Huron, S.D., he passed away Monday, Aug. 9, 2004, at the Lutheran Home, Arlington Heights. Burial will be in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine. Mr. Hennig was a graduate of the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn. He retired from Executive Recruiting Consultants, Inc., in Niles, where he was a technical recruiter. Thomas served in the Army Air Corps and later in the Army during World War II. He found great enjoyment in his work, sports and was a power walker. Survivors include his wife, Arlene Marie (nee Walsh), whom he married Oct. 7, 1950, in Minneapolis, Minn.; children, Dr. Thomas E. (Barbara) Hennig of Columbus, Ohio, Timothy J. (Julie) Hennig of Hoffman Estates and Mary P. (Edmund) Tobias; grandchildren, Erin, Paul, Scott, Melissa and Jeffrey Hennig, and Kelly and Philip Tobias; his sister, Mary Garland Lofy of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a niece, Mary Kathryn (Michael) Murphy of Eau Claire; and a nephew, Michael (Lisa) Hills of New Jersey. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Fredrick and Kathryn Evelyn (nee Garland); and brothers-in-law, Edward Hills and William Lofy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Northeastern Illinois, 410 S. Hager Ave., Barrington, IL 60010 or Alzheimer's Association Greater Chicagoland Chapter, 4709 Golf Road, Suite 1015, Skokie, IL 60076.
