Timothy Samuelson Obituary

Timothy V. Samuelson Services for Timothy V. Samuelson, 49, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at Valley View Baptist Church on Route 25, St. Charles, with the Rev. Dennis Ammons officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Montgomery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, at Norris Funeral Home, 100 S. Third St. (three blocks west of the Fox River, one block south of Route 64), St. Charles. Born Nov. 19, 1955, in Aurora, the son of Dwight and Elaine (nee Radeos) Samuelson, he died suddenly Monday, Sept. 5, 2005, at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. Tim grew up in St. Charles and graduated from St. Charles High School. He was a graduate of Greenville College in Greenville, Ill., where he received his psychology degree. He did graduate work at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb. Tim worked at Maryville Academy for the past 25 years in management positions and with the children. His most recent job was overseeing Maryville's mental illness and substance abuse program. Through the years he oversaw various programs and coordinated residential resources. Tim was known for always developing new and better programs for the Maryville children. Like his late father, Tim dedicated his life to helping the less fortunate. Tim's life focus was on the children of Maryville. Through his dedication to them, he was able to give each hope for their own futures. Tim is survived by his mother, Elaine Samuelson of St. Charles; brother, Clayton Samuelson of Warrenville; nieces, Jennifer, Jacqueline, Elizabeth and Holly Samuelson; grandniece, Breanna; and grandnephew, Tyler. He was preceded in death by his father, Dwight Samuelson on July 30, 2001. Contributions in Tim's memory may be made to Maryville Academy, 1150 N. River Road, Des Plaines, IL 60016-1290. I'm very sorry for the loss of Tim. I have only known him for about nine months, but he was unfailingly kind and helpful to me. Indeed, he hired me at Maryville, and spent much time guiding me through the hurdles of paperwork.

Too, his long stay at Maryville was inspiring to me. I will miss him.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Tim 's legacy of helping others will always live on. Being the little brother of Mike and Steve,Tim always accepted me and treated me as one of the guys even though I was probably a nuisance more often than not as a kid.
