I was very sad to read of Walt's passing, although in our age group it is occurring more often.
We worked together at Baxter's Round Lake Plastics plant in the 80's. He was a good friend and will be deeply missed.

Well said, Brian. So many good football and baseball memories. Walt Jr. the Redskins team going undefeated and unscored upon a whole season! On the other hand, I remember Mr. Lutz greeting me with a big, broad smile at home plate after I hit a home run opening day at Trout Park. (Unfortunately, that was about my last hit of the year.) Glory days. Thanks, Mr. Lutz.

Well said, Brian. So many football and baseball memories. Walter Jr. will remember Redskins Light Weights going undefeated and unscored upon a whole season! On the other hand, I'll never forget Mr. Lutz greeting me at home plate after I hit a home run opening day at Trout Park. (Unfortunately, that was about my last hit of the year.) Glory days. Thanks, Mr. Lutz.

When I was eleven, I wanted to play football but was too timid to do so on my own, Mr. Lutz, our neighbor, encouraged and invited me to play on the team he coached. Mr. Lutz was terrific and way ahead of his time. He was encouraging and motivating. He was extremely well prepared for practices, games, and film nights. He was a great teacher. I never remember him scolding or chastising, only challenging and inspiring us. He didn't treat us like kids; he treated us like we were in training to be men and his influence has had a positive and indelible impact on my life. I thank God for Mr. Lutz.
