Billy Brooks

1944 - 2024

Billy Brooks was born on August 24, 1944 in Collierville, Tennessee to the late Mr. Louis Brooks and Mary Rainer Brooks. He professed his life to Christ at an early age. He later joined the Agape Ministries where he was baptized and remained a faithful member until his untimely passing. There at Agape Ministries, Billy served as deacon under the leadership of Pastor Michael A. Brooks.

Billy was united in Holy Matrimony to his beautiful wife, Mary Lee Johnson on February 4, 1966. To this union, three children were raised, Michael, Cynthia and Gregory.

Billy was a man of few words, but he was like the old E. F. Hutton commercial; when he spoke, everybody listened. He was one of the best auto mechanic technicians in the mid-south area and worked for Ford Motor Company for 47 years until he retired in 2012. After retirement, Billy did just what Billy loved to do, "whatever he wanted to do" (LOL). He had a love for church, fishing, hunting, watching television, and most of all eating good food!

He departed his earthly life on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Mary Brooks; and three brothers, James Louis Brooks, Leonard Lee Brooks, and Solomon Brooks.

Billy leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife of 58 years, Mary (Mae Lee) Brooks; two sons, Rev. Michael Brooks (Karen), and Gregory Brooks; one daughter, Cynthia Brooks; one sister, Jeanette Brooks Jones; six grandchildren, MeShundra, Erica, Nicole, Kaleb, Kayden, and Karsyu; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation Friday, July 19, 2024 from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. at H.C. Jett-H.C. Ford Funeral Home, 203 Washington St., Collierville, TN 38017. Funeral service Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at New Sherron Baptist Church, 219 New Sherron Rd., Byhalia, MS 38611. Interment in New Sherron Church Cemetery. Min. Ralph O. Thompson, Pastor.
