Paul was the owner of Audiomania Records, DJ for WEVL radio, and a true Midtown boy.

Am incredibly sad to hear of the passing of Memphis musical mensch and all round sweet man, Paul Williams, who it'd been a pleasure to know for 25 years... popping into Audiomania, which Paul closed down the other year, had always been one of my very favourite things on Earth to do - he'd be perched behind his desk and, smiling, would drawl "Oh, hi Joss", like he'd only seen me a couple of days beforehand, rather than (sometimes several) years previously. We'd then yakk about music, cats, and life itself (occasionally, we even managed to go out for a drink, Paul favouring and savoring a classy cocktail), and he'd never fail to dig out some kinda gem for me, including the copy of a print he had made of a rare Gram Parsons poster that's hung above where I'm typing this for many a moon, or my 50th birthday prezzie from Nadia, a copy of The Avengers' "Batarang" 45, which was a spare from his own collection. We got mutual kicks galore from just hanging out, kibbitzing, over the years, and I'm gonna miss him like hell. Heartfelt condolences to Paul's wife, Angela, and his family, friends and cats, Furry and Peanut. It was a stone pleasure, Paul, see you down the road.
