Chad Underwood Obituary

HAYES - Chad Richard Underwood, age 48, died at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital, May 22, 2004. Chad retired from the Newport News Fire Department following 25 years of commitment. He was a lover of music, books and golfing. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Underwood; one son, Cody Underwood; mother, Suzanne Rester and husband, Jerry; and four brothers, Rich Underwood, Bobby Underwood, Bill Underwood and Stephen Underwood. A celebration of his life will be held 4 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends following the service. In his memory, memorial contributions may be made to: the Gloucester Friends of the Library, Box 889, Hayes, VA 23072.

I knew Chad when we were in our twenties. He was the best guitar player I ever knew. I bought his '66 Gibson SG from him and I still have it. I ran into him last year after more than 25 years and we talked about that guitar. My very deepest sympathy to Chad's family. I'll always remember him.
