Charles SALKEN Obituary

RICHMOND - Charles Salken, 93, passed away May 7, 2011.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Rosalind "Roz" Salken.
Mr. Salken is survived by his children, Bonnie Katzenberg (Norman), Kenny Salken (Wendy Kreuter); grandchildren, Jeremy Salken, Jonathan and Sami Katzenberg, Elise and Isabel Salken; sister, Ray Salken; brother- in-law, Fred Siegel; and many nieces and nephews.
Charlie was born in Philadelphia on Nov. 3, 1917, and raised in Richmond, where he graduated from John Marshall High School. He served in WWII and then married the love of his life, Roz, and settled back in Richmond. A grocery store merchant for most of his life, he loved golfing and retired to Florida, which he loved dearly, to pursue his passion.
A special thanks to his caregivers, Frechena Howard and Diane Allen, for all the love and care they gave our dad over the past three years.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday May 10, 2011, at B'Nai Sholom at Greenwood Cemetery, Richmond Va. Online condolences may be made at www.blileys.com View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks.
