Cheryl Spear Blevins

QUINTON - Cheryl Spear Blevins, 59, of Quinton, Virginia returned to the loving arms of God on August 31, 2015 after struggling with heart complications. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends laughing, praying, and sharing fond memories. She was the beloved wife of James Blevins Sr. and loving mother to James Blevins Jr. She was a native of Newport News and a graduate of Menchville High School. Cheryl was a light in this world. She loved and appreciated other people and never met a stranger. Cheryl had a unique gift to make others feel loved and lifted in her presence. She enjoyed life to the fullest and loved to laugh. Her bright smile, kind heart, and appreciation for the simple things in life endeared her to everyone she met. She was an active member of Providence United Methodist Church and had an abounding love for her church and fellow church members. Cheryl had an incredible and unwavering faith. She was grounded in God's love and rested fully in her awareness that He would be holding her hand as she journeyed from this world. Her family and friends take comfort in the knowledge she knew how much she was loved and that her spirit is in the presence of God. Cheryl was deeply loved by her family. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Ellis and Anne Spear and her beloved brother, Ellis Spear Jr. She is survived by her sisters, Cathleen Briggs, Barbara Anby, Laura Anderson and her nieces, Rebecca Briggs Surratt, Sarah Briggs Veselova, Nicolette Anby, and Madeline Anby, as well as many close family friends, including Floyd Lee Jr. Her family invites you to celebrate the joy she brought to the world. Friends will be received on Friday, Sept 4th from 6pm-8pm at 226 Par Drive, Fords Colony, Williamsburg. A Celebration of Life will be held at Providence United Methodist Church 4001 New Kent Highway Quinton, VA on Saturday, Sept 5th at 10:30 am. It was Cheryl's request that we not be sad, please bring your happy memories to share.
