Douglas CRAWLEY Obituary
He was born July, 11, 1949, to the late Charles E. Crawley Sr. and Vivian Geraldine Crawley.
He was a graduate of Huntington High School Class of 1967. He was also a graduate of the Newport News Shipbuilding Apprentice School Class of 1973 and was employed with Northrop Grumman New-port News for 43 years in X33 Paint Department. He was a member of Rhema Full Gospel Kingdom Church.
Douglas was a member of the I.B.P.O.E. of W., Anchor Lodge #1429; Newport News, Va., serving as the Exalted Ruler for a number of years. He was also the State Director of Beauty and Talent as well as the State Youth Director. He was a member of the Widow's Son Lodge # 54, Newport News, Va.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas C. Crawley.
He leaves to cherish his memory to his devoted wife, Marcelle A. Crawley;
two daughters, Adriene R. Crawley-Dent (DeCarolo), of Hampton, Va., and Anntonette R. Taylor of Griffin, Ga.; one son, Darian L. Bolling of Lawrenceville, Va.; seven grandchildren, Deven R. Crawley of Newport News, Va., Andrew D. Ellis of Griffin, Ga., Sydney N. Ellis of Griffin, Ga., Reighn A. Crawley-Williams of Hampton, Va., Sirica S. Bolling of Newport News, Va., Tishauna Dupont of Salisbury, Md., and Sharelle Coles of Salisbury, Md.; one great-grandson, Canaan Cornish of Salisbury, Md.; siblings, Charles E. Crawley Jr. (Deborah), Barbara E. Smith (Duane), Larry E. Crawley (Betty), Annette M. Crawley, and Roy Braxton, all of Newport News, Va.; mother-in-law, Wanda Bolling of Weirton, W.Va.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
A wake service will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 16, 2010, at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel. A homegoing service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 17, 2010, at Wesley Grove United Church, 2308 Roanoke Avenue, Newport News, VA 23607, with the Rev. Ronnie T. Northam Sr. officiating. Dearest Bay, On July 3rd, 2017 we welcomed Briley B. Bond into this world. She's lovely Bay. Couldn't get her to wait for her due date, she was in a hurry. Our timing is not like God's timing. To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,

Bay, First let me start off by telling you that our family had a BALL@ at the family cookout. It almost like old times. You know how we wild Crawleys throwdown. TillyWit really brought us together as a. whole. Not to mention the food was excellent. We even played Poke no and the little ones had a ball playing with their cousins. We had such a good time that we are during it again next month. Your grand and great grand hung out until Devin was so tired, she had to call it a night. LOL. :-) She couldn't hang. LMS!! Bay,
Thought I'd writ e to you before the daily things in life get too busy today. I love the peace and quiete of the top of the morning when most people are sill sleping. So peaceful, calming, and uninterupted. I call it my secret time.
I've been asking God to where I'm best needed in the my church. Just when I think the answer is forthcoming, it's not. But I continue to wait on the Lord's guidance because I can't do it alone. Have you ever thought you had it all mapped out and a little voice inside of you tells you otherwise? I want to be the best I can be in the service of the Lord but somehow I feel like I'm stagnated. I want to do what's right and pleasing to Him as I know His plan for me is His will. The flesh is a terrible thing sometimes and it weighs heavly on my mind, body, and spirit sometimes. I just want to do what's pleasing to Him; to allow the Holy Spirit to take control.
Well, I'll close or now. It's time to seek His word, love, wisdom,and guidance this morning before negative forces enter into the equation. know that you're mised as if it was yesterday,
