Edward D. Knode

Knode, Edward Dale, 62, passed away unexpectedly on June 22, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chief MSgt William E. (Ned) Knode, Ret. and Virginia C. (Ginny) Knode. He is survived by his sister Deborah (Knode) DeBiasi of Prince George, Virginia.

Ed was born in Canton Ohio. When he was 3, the family moved to Wiesbaden Germany where the Air Force had transferred our dad. Four years later, we returned to the states when dad was transferred to Langley AFB in Hampton, Virginia where our family bought a house in Riverdale. Ed attended Thomas Eaton Jr. High, and graduated from Hampton High School in 1977. He went to Virginia Tech to study engineering, and supplemented that with coursework from Thomas Nelson Community College in electronics and instrumentation calibration.

Ed thoroughly enjoyed his friends, fishing, golf trips, and was generous to a fault. He would drive miles out of his way for a highly rated meal, and became a good cook himself over the years. He was very particular and fashionable with his clothing and appearance. One of his friends noted that Ed never knew a stranger. When he met someone, he immediately became their friend by charming them with his intellect and unbelievable personal recall. Ed will be missed by his friends, and by especially by me. He left us all too soon. Rest easy, "little" brother.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday August 27th, at Parklawn-Wood Memorial Park, 2551 North Armistead Ave, Hampton, VA. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Ed's name to Hampton Fire and Rescue, Station 10, 22 Lincoln Street, 6th Floor, Hampton VA 23669
