On August 20, 2025, Thelma May Knode (nee Handler) peacefully passed away. Born on April 3, 1926, she was the beloved wife of the late Charles Brunier Knode, Sr.; loving mother of Margaret "Peggy" Knode, Jennifer A. DeBoy (Steven J. DeBoy, Sr.), and the late Charles Brunier Knode, Jr.; cherished grandmother of Steven J. DeBoy, Jr. (Molly), Amanda L. Lund (Matt), Diana C. Kean (Kevin), Elizabeth Ault (Jake), Jeanine Knode, Chuck Knode (Aislinn) and dear great grandmother of Jack DeBoy, Bowen DeBoy, Parker Kean, Tanner Kean, Lucas Lund, Cameron Crawford, Caralynn Crawford, and Charlotte Knode. Thelma is also survived by many loving relatives and friends.
There aren't enough words to describe how much she meant to us and how much we loved her. We were the blessed recipients of decades of all of the best things that made up Thelma. Her love, selflessness, dedication to serving others, generosity, fun-loving nature, entertainment, and gentleness will never be forgotten by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Family members and friends will gather on Saturday August 30, 2025 from 10:30am-11am with a funeral to begin at 11am at Our Lady of the Angels Chapel at Charlestown Retirement Community in Catonsville. The interment will immediately follow in the Crestlawn Memorial Gardens in Marriottsville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Gilchrist Hospice Donate Here, or Philanthropy at Charlestown Community, Inc. Benevolent Care 719 Maiden Choice Lane, Catonsville, MD 21228.
