I have so many memories of my dear uncle Fred, but the best was when he would take me and my family out on the boat on the Chesapeake and would teach us how to really fish! Such great times on that boat learning how to catch a crab and dig into the sand for a clam. He was a quiet, patient, and kind man and I loved being in his peaceful presence. In many ways he reminded me of my own father. I am sure my dear aunt Geri is happy to have him with her now, but he will surely be missed by his family. Love you dear Uncle Fred, and may you rest in peace.

To the entire Wegener family my sincerest condolences. I worked for Fred right out of college testing 688 clash submarines at NNSY. We worked hard and played hard back in those days. Fred was easily the best boss I ever had. Many of his subordinates have gone on to fantastic positions of authority both inside and outside of NNSY. He was one of a kind and will be missed by all.
