Alan Wambold to whom I was married 1969-2008 thought George was totally marvelous. I agreed with Alan. George was a marvelous host who could show outstanding hospitality. His home was open so often. He provided wonderful memories.

George Recant has been one of my heroes. He had an extraordinary family. Ethel, his first wife, was one of my best friends. His second wife, Marie, was dear to me also. Mike, Bruce, and Wendy, his children by Ethel, are bright, witty, super intelligent, and enormously talented. George did amazing work; he was an engineer for NASA. He was generous and kind. He was the very sort of person I would choose to be a hero. The world has lost a great soul and I feel sorrow for George's family.

Mr.Recant was one of my first supervisors when I came to work at NACA in 1944 - first at the Atmospheric Wind Tunnel (AWT)and later at the Unitary Wind Tunnel (UPWT). He was a big help to me in getting me started ib a career of aerodynamic research.
