Rosa Gaus Obituary

POQUOSON - Rosa Lee Gaus, 79, a native of Princess Anne County, Va., and Poquoson resident for over 40 years, passed away Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, at home. She retired as a school bus driver for Poquoson schools in 1977 after 15 years, was an avid bingo player, and was a Baptist. Mrs. Gaus was preceded in death by her parents, Lillie Murden and Preston E. Cooper; her husband, Edward C. Gaus; and a brother, Preston E. Cooper Jr. She is survived by five daughters, Louise G. Marsette, Barbara G. Freeman, Nancy G. Minnick, Rosa G. Hurt and Helen G. West; six sons, David C. Gaus, Richard E. Gaus, John J. Gaus, Preston E. Gaus, William F. Gaus and James E. Gaus; a sister, Lillie M. Lichtle; 24 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the home, 1198 Poquoson Ave. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. today at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home by the Rev. Donald G. Marsh. Burial will follow at Veterans Memorial Gardens, Hampton. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 895 Middle Ground Blvd., Suite 154, Newport News, VA 23606.
