Damon DeVito Obituary
Damon is survived by his wife, Lesli DeVito; his children, Tate, Phoebe and Cooper DeVito; his brother, Jason DeVito; and his mother, Patricia DeVito.
Damon attended the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He went on to pursue his MBA at the University of Virginia (UVA) Darden School of Business where he was the recipient of the Samuel Forrest Hyde Scholarship. Damon resided in Charlottesville, Va. for the past 31 years.
Damon DeVito was an angel investor, entrepreneur, adviser/director to startups and owner of The Club at Glenmore and Ferncroft Country Club, Venture Partner at Varsity Financial Group, mentor at UVA's incubator. In October 2022, Damon lived out his dream of launching a rolling venture capital fund on AngelList called the Corner Fund that enables investors connected to UVA to invest in startups with a UVA connection. Damon was an All-Star Mentor with Techstars (designating top 1%). He taught an applied entrepreneurship class at UVA Darden to support student founders in growing their startups and had a profound impact on them in and outside of the classroom.
Damon was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, mentor, golfer, and friend. He was a dedicated mentor and a lifelong teacher to all. He always dreamt of writing a book and although he did not get the chance to fulfill this dream, we know we could fill many volumes with the invaluable advice he gave to all of us over the years. He will be remembered for his brilliant mind, entrepreneurial spirit, and unwavering kindness. One of his favorite phrases may serve as a reminder to us all in his absence:
"Do you know when the best time to plant a tree is? Yesterday. Do you know when the second best time to plant a tree is? Today"
May we all heed Damon's words and never hesitate to learn excitedly, think deeply, and love fiercely.
A memorial service to celebrate Damon's life will be held in the Fall of 2023. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to a fundraiser:

I just tonight learned of Damon's passing. I was stunned. We were colleagues in the Golf industry and became friends when my family moved to Crozet 20 years ago. I recently was thinking it had been a while since we talked. Damon provided me some great advice over the years and he talked about his family a lot; our daughters had some crossover with his kids at WAHS. My prayers go out to his entire family; I simply cannot imagine. Please keep him alive in your hearts and minds.

To Danny´s family,
I met Damon my first day at college on the 3rd floor of Hill House. I had such a crush on him! Who would´t? Adorable, funny, ambitious, wicked smart and a just a sincerely caring person. We reconnected a few years ago on facebook and always said we would get together sometime. That day never came. I thought he was invincible. The energizer bunny to the very end. I can only imagine the enormous loss you must be feeling. My thoughts and prayers are with at this moment. May you find peace in this time of deeply sad transition.

I was at Penn with Damon...we shared the same freshman hallway and then we were flatmates senior year. I reconnected with Damon during my 2nd year of my MBA program, as he had graduated from UVA the year prior...and I needed some advice. Some wisdom...and a little bit of empathy. He talked to me about his journey...and asked me, "if money were no object, what would you be doing?...you should go figure out how to do that...". Damon always knew how to listen, be empathetic and then cut to the chase. For the last 25 years, I've held his advice close to me and have shared it widely... By the sounds of it, many others have benefited from his generosity of mind, spirit and time as well.

I’m in absolute shock to see the passing of Damon. I knew him as a teenager at his parents pharmacy in Troy but lost touch with him when he moved to Va. His father passed young so Damon at 55 is beyond belief. My condolences to his mother Patty, brother Jason and Damon’s wife and children.
