Andrew Brenner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Portland Jewish Funeral Home on Mar. 5, 2026.
Andrew Brenner peacefully passed away at his home in Amawalk, NY, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, March 3rd, 2026. He was recently diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer. He was 70 years old. Born on January 26, 1956 in Portland, Maine, to the late Robert and Barbara Brenner, he is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Linda, his daughter, Rachel, and his son, Noah.
Andrew, better known as "Andy," obtained a Bachelor of Arts in International Economics from the University of Pennsylvania, as well as BS and MBA degrees from Penn's Wharton School, of which he was a lifelong supporter. Andy was also a Certified Public Accountant.

Andy had a 40+ year career on Wall Street, specializing in fixed-income securities, and most recently served as the Vice Chairman of National Alliance Securities. He was a frequent on-air contributor on the Fox Business network, CNBC, Bloomberg TV, and the NYSE.
Andy served on the University of Pennsylvania Basketball Board for over two decades, sat on the Boards of the Maine Jewish Museum and the Children's Cancer Fund of New York Medical College. Most recently, he was a member of the UNE College of Business Executive Advisory Board. For many years he was a congregant and supporter of the Hebrew Congregation of Somers, NY and later, the Etz Chaim Synagogue in Portland, Maine, of which he was proud to continue his great grandfather's devoted legacy.
When he was not working, Andy could most often be found at his residences in Old Orchard Beach, where he delighted in hosting friends and family. Andy maintained a close, yet enormous network of extended family members, business associates, and life-long friendships with his college classmates, all of whom will miss him dearly. Andy was a driven, hardworking, and passionate individual. Whether he offered an investment, philanthropy, or advice, Andy's generosity knew no bounds.

Services will be held at the historic Etz Chaim Synagogue (267 Congress St.) on Sunday, March 8th at 11am EDT, with interment following at Mt. Sinai Cemetery (159 Hicks St.) in Portland, ME. A memorial service held in Westchester County, NY will be announced at a later date.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Etz Chaim Synagogue.
May Andy's memory always be a Blessing.

Andy was the most incredible family historian of all time. He researched and knew everything there was to know about his family history. This past summer we took a boat ride to the island home of relatives. Along with us was a family friend who had no history with the family. In the living room of the home was a mantle and wall with many family photos dating back generations. I was trying to explain to our friend who the people were. Stumbling along, I realized that Andy was present. I called him in. He knew every child and adult in every photo and gave a mini history lesson about each. The Brenner family will miss Andy so very much. Thank you, Andy, for being our family history navigator. You are irreplaceable.

Heidi and I were devasted to hear of Andy's passing. Whenever we visited our farm in Wells, we looked forward to seeing Andy and having a meal with him at The Bull and Claw. Our Jewish community in southern Maine is small and closely connected and this is a profound loss.
I enjoyed seeing Andy on his last trip to Florida when he was still feeling fine.
Andy will be greatly missed.

I was so sorry to hear this, and my condolences to the family. I looked forward every weekday morning to reading Andy's Investment commentary. He had a great way of relaying information, and usually ended with a personal note, which I always appreciated. He made the markets and the investment news easier to understand. He will be greatly missed. Shalom
