On Friday, November 4, 2016, our beloved Mother, Lucille Ladd Rigsby Goad, 92, went to rest for eternity in the arms of the Heavenly Father. Born December 7, 1923, in Albemarle County, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. Ladd and Cornelia Elizabeth Lloyd Ladd. She was predeceased by two husbands, Lloyd Cornelius Rigsby in 1956, and Harry W. Goad in 2000; her sisters, Avis Leigh Spotswood and Elnora Ladd Hicks; her brother, James Carroll Ladd; and her grandson, Matthew Bradley Rigsby. She was also predeceased by eight half-sisters and half-brothers, and two nieces.Survivors include four children, Louise Rigsby Talley of Troy, Sylvia Jean Poore of Richmond, Lloyd Wayne Rigsby Sr. of Bremo Bluff, and Richard T. Rigsby Sr., of Lake Monticello; six grandchildren, Angela T. Shepherd, Richard T. Rigsby Jr., Lloyd Wayne Rigsby Jr., Crystal Rigsby, Travis Rigsby, Adam Rigsby; a niece, Dorothy Spotswood Williams of Rural Retreat; a nephew, Harold Shelton Spotswood of Lovingston, Va.; and her devoted cat, Sylvester.Lucille spent her entire life devoted to the care and comfort of her family, friends, and the many pets she took care of through the years. She loved working in her garden, planting vegetables and flowers, listening to gospel music, and traveling with her husband, Harry Goad. She enjoyed cutting her grass on a riding lawnmower, and she did so until she was 88 years old.
