Krishna Pulla Kishore Krishna Pulla Kishore, 41, of Charlottesville, died on Friday, April 25, 2014. He was born March 2, 1973, in Kansas City, Kansas. He attended Midlothian High School in Midlothian, Virginia, and graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Arts in history. He received a Master of Arts in higher education administration from the University of Michigan and a Master of Teaching in social studies from the University of Virginia. Kris was a passionate educator who taught for eleven years at Charlottesville High School and for Albemarle County schools. His AP European and U.S. History classes were known as being two of the hardest yet most rewarding classes at CHS. Students gave the courses their all because they saw the passion and preparation "Mr. Kishore" poured into making history challenging, fun, and relevant. His love of learning was contagious, and extended beyond the classroom as he coached the Scholastic Bowl team, chaperoned orchestra trips, and served as faculty advisor to numerous clubs. Among other honors, he was selected as a Fellow and received "The Virginia Experiment" Teaching American History grant in 2006, and was chosen as one of the C-Ville Weekly's Top 20 community members in 2007. Kris cultivated friendships in each stage of life with his trademark combination of kindness and humor. He loved books, sports, politics, and traveling - especially to London and India. He was deeply grateful for all the gifts in his life, and felt especially fortunate to have a wide network of family and friends who always surrounded him with love and support. Kris was devoted to his family. He is survived by his wife, Katie Tracy Kishore; daughters, Mira Judith and Kiran Irene; sister Dr. Rekha Kishore of Richmond; and several cousins, aunts, and uncles, many of whom live in India. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Pulla RS Kishore and Judith Brown Kishore; and his grandparents Oscar Sprague Brown and Beatrice Lyng Brown. The family will hold a memorial service in celebration of Kris' life at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at the Abbott Center Auditorium at the University of Virginia's Darden Graduate School of Business. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bradley W. Jackson Fund at UVA Children's Hospital, P.O. Box 800773, Charlottesville, VA, 22908 or the A.S.K. Childhood Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 17184, Richmond, VA. 23226-7184 (memo: In Memory of Krishna Kishore).
