Life is a collection of random events. On Friday, April 17, 2015, we lost a beautiful, lovable and gifted soul, Andrew Thomas Lincoln age 30, of Blacksburg, Va., following a 15-month stouthearted battle with an unforgiving cancer.Andrew graduated from Charlottesville High School and Virginia Tech. He worked at InnovationSpace at Virginia Tech and fervently loved its creative atmosphere under the leadership of Jennifer Sparrow. Andrew found his passions with his studies and pursued a Master's Degree in Computer Science.Andrew is survived by his loving wife, Dragana Avirovik of Blacksburg; parents, Maryann and Tom Lincoln of Charlottesville; brother, John Lincoln and his wife, Stephanie of Roanoke; sisters, Kate Lincoln of Boston, Mass. and Sarah Lincoln of Charlottesville; in-laws, Gordana and Mladen Avirovic of Skopje, Macedonia; brother-in-law, Dragan Avirovic of Norwalk, Conn., and countless extended family members from the United States and Macedonia.Andrew thoroughly enjoyed spending time with Dragana, family and friends; playing his guitar; listening to Chopin; reading from the likes of T.S. Eliot, Nietzsche, Proust, Dostoevsky and playing with their 130 lbs, canine companion, Farnsworth.His family would like to extend sincere appreciation and gratitude to the doctors and nurses at LewisGale Hospital Montgomery, Blue Ridge Cancer Care in Blacksburg, Dr. Harry McCoy; his Stem Cell Transplant team, the Emily Couric Clinical Cancer Center, the staff on 8West, 4West, and the MICU at the University of Virginia Medical Center, Dr. Andrew Romano, Dr. Tamila Kindwall-Keller, Dr. William Grosh, Suzanne Seth RN; and all of those that provided unconditional care, compassion, hope, encouragement and support to Andrew during this arduous time.In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Testicular Cancer Society for cancer research.A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Christ Episcopal Church, 120 West High Street, Charlottesville, VA 22902 on Saturday, May 23, 2015, at 11:00 am.
