Robert Holman Obituary
April 28, 1924 - February 3, 2022
Robert "Bob" Edward Holman Jr., 97, of Charlottesville, Va. passed from this life on February 3, 2022.
Bob was born on April 28, 1924, in Lima, Ohio. He was the son of Robert Edward Holman Sr., and Lillian Brown Holman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Jane Smith Holman.
Bob attended Mechanicsburg, Ohio public schools, received his undergraduate degree from Denison University, and took graduate courses in microbiology at Ohio State University. He was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, American Chemical Society, Society of Microbiologists, and a member of First United Methodist Church in Charlottesville, Va. Bob was a World War II veteran, having served with the 170th General Hospital attached to General Patton's 3rd Army in France and Germany. Professionally, he worked for Campbell Soup Company, Morton Frozen Foods, ConAgra Foods, and was the senior food microbiologist for 20 years at the ConAgra plant in Crozet, Va.
Bob is survived by his son, Robert Edward Holman III, and wife, Barbara; son, John W. Holman; daughter-in-law, Virginia Parker; granddaughter, Amy and husband, Blake Eason; grandson, Matthew, and wife, Amy Holman; and granddaughter, Sharon and husband, Michael Luu. He also had seven great-grandchildren, Genevieve, Palmer, Foster, and Walker Holman, Duncan, Gannon, and Jackson Eason.
A private family service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, February 11, 2022, at Hill and Wood Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Alex Joyner. Interment will follow at Monticello Memory Gardens and friends are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Crozet Public Library "Buy A Book" program (jmrl.org/br-crozet.htm), and Hospice of the Piedmont, Charlottesville, Va. (hopva.org).
