Robert Michaelson Obituary
AGE: 69 • Kinnelon
Robert Charles Michaelson, 69 of Kinnelon passed away on Sunday October 4, 2015 at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday October 8, 2015 at The Dangler Lewis and Carey Funeral Home 312 West Main Street Boonton, NJ 07005 at 11:00 AM. A "BOB PARTY" will be held after the service in celebration of his life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob's name to the M.I.T. Scholarship Fund for Chemistry students. Visiting will be held on Wednesday October 7, 2015 from 4- 8 PM. Letters of condolence may be posted at danglerlewisandcareyfuneralhome.com.
Bob was born in Billerica, MA to Einar and Irene Michaelson, and grew up in Chicago before moving to New Jersey after graduation. Bob graduated from I.I.T. in Chicago and received his Ph.D. from M.I.T. in Organic Chemistry. Bob was an Organic Chemist working with fuel additives for Exxon Chemical in Clinton, NJ.
He was a founding member of the Palos Hills Observatory, working with The Abrams Planetarium glass shop to develop the observatory's mirror lens. He was elected twice as president of the Porsche Club of Northern New Jersey and served as the registrar for their Driver's Education Program for many years.
Bob was the longtime partner and married for 5 years to Theresa Michaelson. Beloved brother of Shirley Panek. Loving uncle of Lori, Lynn, Leann, Lisa, Joseph Jr., Jonathan, Teresa, and Rachel, and great uncle of Bradley, LillyBeth, and Gia.

Bob was my Best Man at my wedding in 1972. He was a natural born leader with an intense curiosity, hyper intelligence, and a magnificent sense of humor. I miss him very much.
