Samuel J. Perillo

AGE: 87 ? Cedar Knolls

Samuel J. Perillo passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2011, in Morristown, NJ. He was 87. "Sam", to those who knew him, was born and raised in Morristown until moving to Cedar Knolls 38 years ago. He was a former Captain with the Morristown Police Department until his retirement in 1982. After graduating Morristown High School, Sam joined the U.S. Army and served proudly in the 20th Armored Division under General Omar Bradley. He was a former Captain with the Morristown Police Department until his retirement in 1982. Following his retirement he became the 1st Chief of Security at Headquarters Plaza in Morristown. Most recently he served as an aide at Dillon, Bitar and Luther Law firm in Florham Park, NJ. He was an avid woodworker and science fiction buff.

He is survived by his loving wife Grace and 2 daughters, Julie Moylen and her husband Danny of Morristown and Phylis Whitehead and her late husband Dorn of Mendham. He will also be missed his sisters Catherine Longo, Pauline Stigliano, and Marie Dittmer and a brother Thomas Perillo, as well as his grandchildren Lauren, Kristen, Jennifer, Melisa and Jillian, and 4 great grandchildren.

Hours of visitation will be on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 from 5-8 pm at Doyle Funeral Home 106 Maple Ave. Morristown, NJ 07960. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at 10:00am at Church of the Assumption on Maple Ave. in Morristown, NJ. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Sam's memory to 3rd / 112 Fires B.N. Family Readiness Group; 430 Western Ave. Morristown, NJ 07960 Attn: Stephanie Hammond.

My deepest sympathy to the Perillo Family. I worked with Sam at Dillon Bitar & Luther some years ago. I was in the copy room with Sam so often we danced to rhythm of the copier together many times. He will be remembered with a smile in my heart.

our sympathys to the family. Capt. Sam was wonderfull to work under, and then seeing him alot at Hq's plaza. He always was understanding, and guiding to all the officers .He was missed after he left the department and i'm sure he always will be by all.
