Dr. Deshotel was close friends and neighbors with my grandpa BD Dupuis. He still visited my Grandma frequently after BD passed. I was shocked by his death because of his good health proceeding it. BD Dupuis had many friends, but none I remember so much as Dr. Deshotel. I remember specifically in the 90s Dr. Deshotel had bought a Airstream camper and we all went out to see it. Dr. Deshotel said the "s" word and said "sorry mon cher, that's french for poo-poo" and I will never forget it.

To The Family of Dr. Deshotels, my Prayers goes out to each of you. I do appreciate the friendship we shared and the acts of kindness shown to us, my mom, Alice (Nana), for the many years she was there with all of you and even in her retirement years, (also for the loss of Donnie)! Dr. Deshotels will be sadly missed. He was a true friend to me. He always had a kind word or a silly joke to tell me. R.I.P my friend.

My condolences to the Deshotels family. Doc was a very nice person. He was always friendly and nice to me. When we were in school at OCHS,(1976-1977) he took all of the people who qualified for the State Track meet to Baton Rouge in his motor home. Andre' was on a relay team with me, and the rest of us had qualified in other events. He also had a pool party for us at his house at the end of track season. Some people have a lasting positive impression on us, and when we become adults, we can relate to it a lot better. It could be parents, teachers, coaches, neighbors, friends etc., In Doc's case, he was a little bit of all of the above.
