My deepest sympathies on the passing of Mr. Shook. I had the privilege and honor of working with him for 18 years at Bieser, Greer & Landis. I will never forget his kindness, understanding, patience, and intellect. He was a supportive and generous person and always made time for me whenever I sought his advice. He will be deeply missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and his co-workers from BGL. -- Carla Morman

Charlie Shook was one of the finest human beings anyone could be privileged to know. A man of immense intellect and unbounded kindness, he was always a comfortable and delightful companion. All of us at the 49ers were enriched by his presence and by knowing him.
It has been said that many people who are modest in their character often have the least to be modest about. I think this was true in Charlie's case. For all his formidable attributes, he was not one to brag.
He was a first-rate lawyer who rose to be senior partner of Bieser, Greer & Landis. His counsel was sought not only by many clients right up until the year before his death, but also sought by other members of his firm, who would come into his office to consult with him and think through a difficult problem, as he quietly applied his own special logic.
He loved his family, his late wife Cynthia, his two daughters, Barbara Swank of Dayton, Caroline Miller of Arnold, Maryland and his son, Charles Howard Shook of Atlanta, Georgia. He especially treasured the time spent in Wisconsin at a remote family lodge. There he would apply the same legally-honed logic and patience to the pursuit of the elusive muskellunge, which might yield only after many years of patient stalking. He was an outstanding birder, with a life list over 1700 species, and a lover and supporter of classical music performances. From the 49ers perspective he was above all a dear friend and companion, a gifted conversationalist and a person whose demeanor exuded kindness, confidence and integrity at all times. He will be greatly missed.
