Christopher Calender Obituary

September 26, 2023
Christopher Calender, beloved husband of Vida, went to The Kingdom to be with The Lord. To know Chris was to love him, thus, there are graciously too many adored folks to acknowledge. With his radiant smile, genuine kindness and witty humor, Chris put everyone around him at ease. Chris was a seasoned Computer Scientist, with Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Miami University and University of Cincinnati. Possessing a superman level of intelligence and a work ethic second to none, he was such a determined, dedicated and devoted Engineer. His quiet philanthropic work was just as impressive, as Chris co-created Grownation, where he donated thousands of pounds of fresh produce, as well as annual school supplies and Christmas gifts to our community. Chris very much enjoyed being in nature, admiring the wildlife and working the land at his and Vida's farm, was an avid gardener and excelled at carpentry, making everything from bookshelves, benches and easels! He loved great stand-up comedy, live music, traveling, festivals, sports and flying small aircraft, as well as riding thrill-seeking roller coasters at Kings Island and visiting the gorillas at the Cincinnati Zoo. He treasured spending time with his friends and family and delighted in entertaining loved ones. Chris also appreciated baking, and made the best homemade pizza crust, cobbler and biscuits! Chris was one of the most wonderful, remarkable, talented, brilliant, authentic, caring, pure souls on Earth, and Heaven gained the most Precious Angel ever when he arrived. There will be a Memorial for Chris at Avance Funeral Home, at 4976 Winton Road, Fairfield, OH, 45014 on Thursday, February 29, 2024 from 5:30 P.M. – 7:30 P.M., with the Service at 6:30 P.M.

Vida I am so sorry to see about Chris. Both of you have been in my thoughts a lot. I miss seeing both of you in the post office. Chris was truly one of a kind. May God surround you with his comforting arms during this time..

Christopher is the sweetest name my heart will ever hear.
It begins with Christ, for starters, so what could be more dear?
There was no one more generous, thoughtful, real, or kind.
Nor anyone with such a rich, innovative, brilliant mind.
It was love at first sight for both of us, actually, from day one.
We have such a profound connection, that´s truly second to none.
Young but wise, we knew this magic was sent from Heaven Above.
There was just no denying that Chris and I shared absolute true love.
I miss you with every breath I breathe, but I know that you´re by my side.
You promised we were `lock and key´, and that with me you´d always reside.
The best times of my life were with you, in your arms was my favorite place.
But I know that for all eternity we´ll spend, because of God´s loving grace.
We will fly with the Angels, since we´ll have our own wings.
In True Paradise, we won´t need airplanes and things.
Chris, to you, my Precious Love, "goodbye" I´ll never say.
Rather, "See you for all eternity" when God says it´s my day.
You´re my soulmate, my partner, my Biggidie, and my best friend.
Just because you changed locales, my life with you will never end!
