Looking up friends from the past, this is my one greatest fear. I wish I had found Dave sooner. It would have been great to catch up and see that wonderful big smile, laugh and joke like we used to in our youth. I knew Dave in Secondary school and had many good times with him and Kathy Reins (Manz). Goofing around Cannery Row comes to mind right now. I moved away and lost contact with a lot of my classmates and this is one I truly regret. My condolences to the family and anyone who was ever lucky enough to know such a kind hearted lovely soul. Bless

Some long lost friends are very hard to track down. Every year or so I would search online for my friend David Butterfield. I was hoping for a chance to say 'hi' and now I only wish that I had a chance to say goodbye. You are missed.

I met Dave when I started Highschool at Monterey High. Dave was one of the nicest persons I knew and we became fast friends. One day Dave and I were going into town and he suggested we ride his bikes, they were 10 speeds and he loaned me one with foot holders. Im not exactly sure what they were called but hold your feet they did! We came up to a stop sign and I "attempted" to pull my foot out. NOPE. Over I went. LOL. Dave looked down at me and I looked up at him. We both started laughing. Another time I was pretty sick and was at home in Del Rey Oaks. Dave road his 10 speed from his job at an Ice cream shop in either Monterey or Pacific Grove. He made it all the way to my house with hardly any of the ice cream melted! He brought my favorite. Mint chocolate chip. Dave was such a good hearted soul. He introduced me to Young Life (Christian Youth Group) We went to as many events as we could. I was saved later that year. Thanks Dave. Dave Graduated a year before I did (We moved to PG). We both moved to diffrent areas and never made contact again. This I regret as today I found out he passed away. I was driving down the road and passed a few cross country 10 speeders and thought of Dave. I told my story to my work partner about Dave and my Foot being stuck. I then googled Dave's name and found this. I must say it took me back. After reading what he did with his life I must say Im not suprised. That was Dave. I have other stories but those are for his Mom. I hope to meet her again one day. Thanks Dave for being such a good friend in Highschool. You are missed.

To the friends and family of Dave. I didn't know him for long, only the times he came to swim at LA Fitness in Beavercreek, OH. He was always the warmest, friendliest person to talk to. I enjoyed the time we were friends when we swam together. He will be missed.
