Wass was a friend to one and all, player, student, fellow teachers and people in the town of Risingsun. He lived down the street from us and I can tell you he and his first wife Nancy were good neighbors and involved the our little community. If you ever needed something of Wass all you had to do was ask. He was liked and respected by all that knew him because he gave respect to one and all. Rest easy Coach... you won this one!

As a member of the 1971 graduating class at Mechanicsburg High School, I had the pleasure of not only playing football for Coach Wasserman but also benefitting from his leadership as the school principal for our senior year. While he had many other experiences as a coach and administrator after that, I believe that year was a special one for him; I know it was special for us. Coach was passionate, thoughtful, and enthusiastic in everything he did back then, and while it has been several decades since we crossed paths, my memories of him are bright and clear. May he in Rest In Peace with the knowledge that he definitely impacted our lives in a very positive way.

Jerry Wasserman had a positive impact on young people's lives throughout his career as a teacher, coach, and administrator. He won many games and numerous league championships, but even more importantly he built a family atmosphere within the football program. He taught his players to strive to improve themselves on the field and in the classroom. His greatest legacy is the number of players and students that have gone on to lead successful lives. He used the practice field and the classroom to teach players and students about life. Working with him was an absolute pleasure. Coach, you will be missed!

So sad to hear of coach Wasserman passing. He was an inspiration and an influence to so many young athletes and students. He coached with heart and conviction that earned the admiration of those fortunate enough to know him. I will always be grateful for the values and ethics I learned as a high school athlete from his coaching and teaching. May he rest in peace. His family and loved ones will remain in my thoughts and prayers.
