News Death Notice
MONNIN, Joseph I. age 78, of Vandalia passed away Friday, October 29, 2010. He was born March 19, 1932 in Russia, Ohio. He was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, was a retired employee of A.O. Smith Company and proudly served his country as a member of the US Air Force. He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis, his parents, Leo & Marie Monnin, brother, Barney and sister, Sister Teresa Monnin. Joseph is survived by his daughter, Nancy Puckett (Gordon); grandchildren, Nicole Law (Jeremy) and Travis Puckett; brothers, James, Bede, Guy, Mark, Raymond, Leon, and Clem Monnin; sisters, Ursula Pierron, Rose Lachet, Lucy Oen, and Dorothy Hathaway. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, November 1, at St. Christopher Catholic Church, Vandalia with Fr. Francis Keferl officiating. Burial will follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia on Sunday afternoon from 2-4 pm and at the church on Monday from 10:00 am until time of Mass.

Lucy, so sorry to hear about the loss of your brother. My grandson attends St.
Chris and he told me there was a funeral for a Joe Monnin. (I don't think he even
knows my maiden name.)

Joe was a very special part of our Waffle House Family, and a joy to know. We were deeply saddened to hear of his passing, and he will be greatly missed by all of us. Sadly I will not be able to attend the services for Joe. I met him at the Waffle House and we spent many an hour together. He will be missed and he and his family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
