My Coach will be greatly missed.
Your impact lives on through all of us Teddies, Falcons and Wolverines!
I will never forget your long strides (walk), Deep voice yelling out "Come On"; your one-on-one talks about how the lessons in Basketball will translate into lessons in life.
You gave my Son Kennez a nickname "Ten(10)man" the first time you met him and saw him play. You said he was intelligent, athletic and handsome a perfect 10. That's a lot of pressure; but I will push him and all my children to be the best they can be the way you pushed me and many others.
Miss you Big Fella, I thank God for you.

Coach, I read of your passing in the Dayton Daily news, in an article recalling all of your success and influence as a coach and administrator over the years. You affected many people for the better, myself included, and I'm eternally grateful for that. You will be deeply missed in the community, by myself, and by my family. God be with you 'til we meet again.

Dear Mike ("George"),
Remember, we used to call you "George" because of your basketball skills and George Mikan, the great Los Angeles Laker center. We grew up together. I remember all the fun we had ( you, me, Deke Malone, Porky,Tootie). You and I were doubles champions (city) in ping pong. We used to choose sides and run races in the park or using the benches for hurdles. I will always remember you and what a great friend you were. I followed your coaching career and was always so proud of your accomplishments and the "fact" that you were my friend. One day, we will meet again --- to run races and play some ping pong. You were my great "friend." May God hold you in the palm of His hand. I'll "see' you again, my friend. (your friend,Reese Shipley)

We have lost another Champion. Mr Haley was my freshman homeroom teacher at Roth way back when. Yes, he was a gentle giant. He had a big impact on my brother Skippy as he coached him on the basketball court. My condolences go out to the Haley family. May your memories comfort you through this difficult time.

Peace be with the Haley family. It is very difficult to talk about a man that instilled the meaning,"Don't Quit" in your life as a basketball player. Since I was 17 years old, that is how I have lived my life. I am now instilling that same value in my two boys. I will always remember you and your lessons you taught not just basketball but life.

I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to Coach Haley's family. I met Coach several years ago at the Kleptz Y and I enjoyed my almost daily conversations with him as I worked out or participated in open gym. He is surely one of the greatest and most underrated basketball coaches in Ohio history. Here is a tribute that I wrote about his life and career:

Sending prayers to the family of Coach Haley. I got to know Coach about 2 years ago at the Kleptz YMCA in Englewood. I enjoyed our conversations and the big wave he would give me when I was on the track. He was a kind man who mentored the kids after school in the Y gym. It was so evident these kids had respect and admiration for him. I will miss seeing his smiling face. Rest In Peace my friend!

The best High School coach Dayton has ever known or seen. I used to walk to every Roth game and watch in awe back in 1978 when he coached Dwight Anderson. I remember in 1981 when I played for Fairview H.S. and Roth beat the crap out of us 101-74. Coach was a very special person, very friendly and personable and I will truly miss him. God Bless

I extend my sincere sympathies to the entire family. Mike was the best basketball coach to walk on a high school court. I am grateful for the many memories I have of excellence in sports. I pray that you are all comforted by warm memories of happy times.
