Diane Marie (Bolton) Hicks, age 51, of Wilmington, DE, passed away suddenly on Wednesday afternoon, March 4, 2009 at Christiana Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Hicks was born in Wilmington, DE on May 16, 1957, the daughter of the late Marguerite O. Bolton. Diane worked as a nutritionist for Tatnall School for the past 6 years. She loved seeing the students' smiling faces. Diane was a very giving and thoughtful person who was committed to helping others and she continues that through her organ donations. Diane loved fishing, dancing, having family dinners, playing in the snow, and planting her garden with her husband. She was a devoted mother, wife, and grandmother. She always put her family first and all her free time was spent with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Hicks is survived by her husband of 14 years, Alvin L. Hicks whom she loved dearly; 3 daughters: Tammy Riley and husband Kevin, Tina Forbes and husband Francis, and Crystal Elwood; 3 sons: Bartley, Michael, and Christopher Elwood; 4 stepsons: Alvin, Joel, Darryl and Elijah Hicks; 2 sisters: Claudette Chance and Leslie McGonigle; 1 brother, Wayne Cooper; 11 grandchildren; 8 nieces and nephews; 14 great nieces and nephews; and many more family and friends.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, March 10, 2009 from 11am - 12 noon in the Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark, DE 19702 followed by a service in celebration of Mrs. Hicks' life at 12 noon. Burial will be private.
