Age 85, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on October 12, 2008 at Christiana Hospital.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who spent his life selflessly providing for those he loved. His passion for cooking was evident in the family catering business as well as traditional Sunday dinners in the family home. Dominick retired as a brick mason from Bricklayers Union Local 1. He was a member of Corpus Christi Church and a former member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Angela (Alisa) DiEmedio in 2001. He was also predeceased by a sister, Dolores Kowalczyk and four brothers, Louis, Vincent, Thomas, and Alfred DiEmedio. He will be dearly missed by his children, Alfred D. and wife Dianne of Elkton, MD, Robert D. of Lincoln University, PA, and Daniel J. of Wilmington, DE; 6 grandchildren, Sunny Antonio and husband Jason, Gregg DiEmedio, Aubrey Sutton and husband Matthew, Lindsay Berkheiser and husband Matthew, Andrew and Corey DiEmedio; 3 great grandchildren, Domenick, Maya, and Rowan; 4 sisters, Ann Craner, Marie Stroehmaier, Janet Mombro, Joanne Tweed and 3 brothers, Joseph, Valentino and Robert.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 17, at 10:30 am at Corpus Christi Church, 901 New Rd., Wilmington. Friends and family may also call on Thursday evening 6-8 pm at MEALEY FUNERAL HOME, Limestone and Milltown Rds., Wilmington, DE. Entombment will be in Cathedral Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be sent to the American Heart Assn., 1501 Casho Mill Rd. # 1, Newark, DE 19711.
