J.R. Julian Obituary

J.R. Julian

Wilmington - J.R. Julian, a Wilmington attorney for 46 years, passed away on Friday, June 1, 2018. He was born on April 6, 1943 in Wilmington, the fifth and youngest child of John and Rose Tavani Julian.

His parents instilled in him the importance of hard work, commitment to family, and patriotism - values which he embraced and taught his own children. J.R. graduated from American University and The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law. A former President of the Delaware Bar Association, J.R. was admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court of Delaware, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and U.S. Supreme Court.

J.R. was generous with his time and advice and served as a mentor to many. His appreciation for music, art, wine, history, literature - and enthusiasm for the Washington Redskins - infused his life and those around him. He will be remembered for his sharp wit and the nicknames he lovingly bestowed upon family, as well as his love for the numerous pets that brought joy to his life.

J.R.'s legacy will live on through his devoted wife of 36 years, Jane W. Julian; daughters L. Nicole Currie (Rodger Currie) and Devon Julian, and sons Peter C. Julian and Christopher J. Julian; and eight grandchildren - Alexandra Antorcha, Stella and Alessandra Julian, Katherine, Christopher, Ryan, and Rose Currie, and Princess Lawrence. J.R. also is survived by his siblings Robert J. Julian (Lorraine N. Julian) and Joan J. Rizzo; brother-in-law Dr. Francis C. Sarro, sister-in-law Barbara C. Johnson, nephews, nieces, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his sister Adeline J. Sarro, brother Gabriel L. Julian, and brothers-in-law R.R. "Buddy" Rizzo and Norman E. Johnson.

We were debate team members at St. Petersburg (Fl.) Jr. College. He was sharp then, and always a gentleman.

Dear Jane,
I just learned of JR's passing today. He was a fine attorney and good friend. He and I shared a love of jazz and classical music. He is missed.
I lost my son to a massive heart attack 3-11-17. He was 28 years old. I kind of lost touch with everyone since then.
