Steven Rhoades Obituary
Steven L. Rhoades passed away on November 23, 2016 at Christiana Hospital.
He was born in Wilmington, DE to the late Luther and Jean Rhoades. Steven graduated from Dickinson High School. He was a chef at the University of Delaware for 26 years and retired in October 2016. Steven was an avid antique collector and enjoyed civil war re-enactments. He loved going to parades and cooking.
He is survived by his sister, Linda Willis (Peter), his brother, David Rhoades, his uncle, Charles Rhoades, his step-mother, Nancy Rhoades and good friends, his step-sister-in law, Beverly Ellis and Sherrie Saponaro.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff on 3D at the Christiana Hospital for the excellent care that they provided to Steven and his family.
Friends may call on Saturday, December 3, 2016 from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808 where a memorial service will begin at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice House , 6561 Ochletree Lane, Wilmington, DE 19808. We only worked together for two semesters @ Russell. I hated my job but you made it more bearable to come to work everyday. Your quick wit n humor got me through the day. I left UD to become a RN and I thought of you often. Crazy how I was just thinking about you a few days ago and I saw Kwon's post of your passing. May you rest in peace my friend...you touch many people.

I enjoyed working with Steve for 10 years at Russell Dining Hall. Steve always kept the kitchen laughing with his unique sense of humor. I will be reminded of Steve whenever I look up at the sleigh he gave me as a retirement present.
